DEEPAK CHOPRA WILL BE HONORED WITH THE GLOBAL HUMANITARIAN AWARD

NARCISO RODRIGUEZ ACCLAIMED FASHION DESIGNER WILL RECEIVE THE COMMUNITY HERO AWARD

LUIS ALBERTO MORENO PRESIDENT OF THE INTER-AMERICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK TO BE PRESENTED WITH THE EXCELLENCE IN CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AWARD

CHICAGO, IL February 12, 2018– Marc Anthony and Henry Cárdenas announced today the honorees for Maestro Cares Foundation’s fifth annual “Changing Lives, Building Dreams” Gala.  The black-tie dinner will take place on Thursday, March 8th at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. This year the Foundation will honor American Author and Alternative Medicine Advocate Deepak Chopra with the Global Humanitarian Award, Narciso Rodriguez, acclaimed fashion designer, will received the Community Hero Award and the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award will be presented to Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Inter-American Development Bank on the special evening hosted by Melissa Musen Gerstein, Co-Founder of The MOMS.

 

Proceeds from the fundraiser will provide essential support for Maestro Cares Foundation, a non-profit organization established to build safe and healthy environments for disadvantaged children in Latin America. The evening will feature a cocktail reception, formal dinner, a live and silent auction and a live musical performance by Marc Anthony and special guest artist Maluma.

Since 2012, Maestro Cares has completed construction on projects in La Romana (Dominican Republic) Barranquilla (Colombia) Toluca (Mexico) and Ponce (Puerto Rico). These projects have helped to provide housing, nutrition, and education to over 200 children victims of neglect and abuse.  Maestro Cares not only commits itself to the construction and building of safe homes and environments, but also to provides education to these disadvantaged children.  In addition, in 2015, Maestro Cares funded an interactive program in Peru that provides educational tablets to over 300 children in Lima.

Just this past year, Maestro Cares broke ground on locations in Guadalajara (Mexico) La Paz (Bolivia) Cali (Colombia), and in Guatemala. These homes and educational centers are expected to be completed by the end of 2018.  This new year Maestro Cares plans to break ground on pledged projects in Chicago, El Salvador, the organization’s second home in Bolivia and is working on 3 potential sites in Puerto Rico, Chile and Argentina.
